Description

Day 128 of Project 365

Nice and simple :) Does anyone else make sure candles are out several times before they put them away, or leave the house etc? I've always checked fires and candles obsessively before I leave, only noticed today.

Enjoy:)

This speaks to many different things. The single votive with the match laying across it is evocative. Where is the person who feels the need for the light in the darkness? ( Well, obviously you're behind the camera, but you know what I mean.)
I really like the reflections in the wooden table.
The dark undefined diagonal in the foreground increases the focus of the shot and draws the eye in. Your use of angles to draw the eye around the field works exceptionally well. The wood grain in the table, the angle of the flame and the match balances well without being too fussy.
You've done an excellent job of giving enough darkness over the flame to allow the glow to capture the eye without centering it too much. Another inch would have been too much any less and the composition would be off.
A very calming, beautiful piece.

Oh and yes. If you don't check your sent matches and candles more than twice you come back to find all of your possessions in flames. Remember Smokey the Bear and Sparky the Fire Dog. I have four fire extinguishers in my little house and taught my kids to use them in the yard. Caution is not the same as obsession.
